Job Summary

A permanent full-time position as a Project Engineer is available for a self-motivated enthusiastic individual. The Project Engineer will be a key member of Noetic’s team based in Edmonton and contribute to our consulting projects and (where appropriate) to technology and product development projects for our parent company, Volant. Duties and Responsibilities

Working within our small team of senior professionals, the Project Engineer will have a broad range of duties and responsibilities that depend on the needs of our clients. Examples of project responsibilities include:

  • Developing engineering bases for evaluation of well components.
  • Setting up and executing non-linear finite element (FEA) models to predict structural performance of casing strings and other components in extreme service conditions.
  • Setting up and executing coupled thermo-hydraulic wellbore-reservoir numerical models to predict production performance of oil wells.
  • Conceiving and supporting the design and execution of customized laboratory experiments, including mechanical load testing, fluid flow testing, and pipe connection sealability testing.
  • Designing, drawing, and overseeing manufacturing of test specimens and test fixtures.
  • Processing and interpreting data, and identifying key parametric relationships.
  • Understanding client needs and preparing project proposals.
  • Communicating results to external clients verbally, through written reports, and in face-to-face meetings.
  • Providing coordination and project management for engineering consulting projects.

Knowledge and Skills

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registration with APEGA (E.I.T. or P.Eng.) is required.
  • 0 to 5 years experience working in a technical capacity.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles.
  • Ability to work well independently while drawing on the experience and technical expertise of our entire team.
  • Ability to make decisions involving varied levels of risk and ambiguity.
  • Remains energized and focused in the face of change or strenuous demands.
  • Must possess strong scientific curiosity and enthusiasm in exploring challenging engineering problems and new initiatives.
  • Ability to take a holistic view of engineering systems.
  • The ability to learn quickly working in both office and lab environments.
  • Desire and ability to identify and address learning and developmental needs to enhance own performance.
  • Good technical writing, communication, multitasking, and time management skills are essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Self-motivated.
