Job Summary:

A permanent full-time position as a Project Engineer is available for a self-motivated enthusiastic individual. The Project Engineer will be a key member of Noetic’s team based in Edmonton and contribute to our consulting projects. Noetic offers a working environment that fosters individual growth and provides strong mentorship. The Project Engineer will be encouraged to grow and evolve his or her role within the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working within our team of professionals, the Project Engineer will have a broad range of duties and responsibilities that depend on the needs of our clients. Examples of include:

  • Develop engineering bases for evaluation of well components
  • Set up and execute FEA models to predict structural performance of casing strings in extreme service conditions
  • Set up and execute coupled thermo-hydraulic wellbore-reservoir numerical models to predict enhanced oil production
  • Set up and execute customized laboratory experiments, including mechanical load testing, fluid flow testing, and pipe connection sealability testing
  • Design, draw, and oversee manufacturing of test specimens and test fixtures with an emphasis on proactive quality control
  • Process and interpret data, and identify key parametric relationships
  • Communicate results to external clients verbally and through written reports.

Knowledge and Skills:

This is an entry level position for a candidate with a B.Sc. or equivalent degree in mechanical engineering who is able to work well independently while drawing on the experience and technical expertise of our entire team. Our key requirements are interest and enthusiasm in exploring challenging engineering problems, and a good understanding of fundamental engineering principles. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, have excellent attention to detail, scientific curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly working in both office and lab environments. Good technical writing and communication skills are essential. Experience with numerical or finite element analysis or computerized data acquisition systems would be assets. Registration with APEGA as an engineer-in-training (E.I.T.) is required.
