Job Summary:

Noetic is looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual to fill the permanent full time role of Corrosion/Metallurgy Engineering Specialist based in our Edmonton office. As a Corrosion/Metallurgy Engineering Specialist you will bring your experience and expertise in the areas of material science and corrosion to the Noetic Engineering team. You will contribute technically and in a project management capacity to a wide variety of consulting projects. The role will include supporting Volant Oil Tools’ product design including selection and application of metallurgy and coatings. You will interface with customers to define project scope, communicate results and manage projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver value to consulting clients and to internal development and investigative activities
  • Contribute expertise and experience in the areas of:
    • Aqueous corrosion
    • Corrosion resistant materials (including CRA’s)
    • Interaction between applied load and corrosion/cracking resistance
    • Steel surface coatings and their impact on corrosion/cracking resistance
    • Metallurgy and the impact of microstructure on mechanical properties and corrosion resistance
  • Execute laboratory tests and co-ordinate execution of third party laboratory tests Manage engineering consulting projects
  • Work within and promote a culture of team work and continuous improvement
  • Maintain effective internal and external communication regarding ongoing projects

Knowledge and Skills:

This is an intermediate position for a candidate with a B.Sc. or advanced degree in Materials Engineering (or related field). The successful candidate will work well independently while drawing on the experience and technical expertise of our entire team. Our key requirements are interest and enthusiasm in exploring challenging engineering problems, and a good understanding of fundamental engineering principles. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, have excellent attention to detail, scientific curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly working in both office and lab environments. Good technical writing and communication skills are essential. Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA as a professional engineer (P.Eng.) is preferred. The successful candidate will have experience demonstrating progression in technical and project management responsibilities.
