In his 20+ year career in engineering research and technology development, Dr. Jarek Nowinka has gained advanced technical expertise, versatile management skills, and diverse international exposure.
As Senior Consultant with Noetic Engineering, and previously as Senior Research Engineer with C-FER Technologies, Jarek has acted as chief engineer and manager of many large-scope projects evaluating downhole tubulars for extreme-loading conditions, including service in thermal and sour wells, as well as high-pressure high-temperature wells. His responsibilities encompassed product and material assessment and qualification, laboratory testing, numerical analysis, and new technology development. In the last few years, Jarek has been leading multi-client projects on Development of thermal well casing connection evaluation protocol; and on Synergistic impacts of thermo-mechanical loading and environmental corrosion-cracking on tubular materials for thermal wells. Earlier in his career, as Engineering Manager with Boundary Equipment, Jarek managed the design and quality assurance of several product lines of wear-resistant parts, and provided technical assistance to clients of Boundary and its several subsidiaries.
Since 2005, Jarek has been a dynamic contributor to international standardization efforts. He now serves as Chair of Canadian Advisory Committee and represents Canada to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 67 Materials, equipment and offshore structures for petroleum and natural gas industries Sub Committee 5 Casing, Tubing and Drill Pipe. For several years, Jarek has worked in ISO Workgroup 13679, developing procedures for testing casing and tubing connections for elastic-design applications.
Jarek completed his Ph.D. studies in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calgary in 1990. He obtained his M.Sc. degree at the Poznan Technical University in Poland in 1984. Jarek is a co-author of a patent for a strain-absorption device, and author of several journal papers and technical reports.
